Preliminary inquiry reports of the aircraft accident in Ahmedabad, after being issued by the aircraft accident investigation bureau (AAIB), a look at the incidents since June 12:
* Around 12-year-old Boeing 787-8 aircraft of Air India VT-ANB, shortly after flying on June 12, fell on the residential complex of BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad and crashed. The aircraft was going from Ahmedabad to London.
* This aircraft had a total of 242 people, including 12 members of the crew. Only one passenger survived the accident. Apart from passengers and crew members, many people lost their lives in this accident. A total of 260 people were killed in the plane crash.
* The survived passenger Vishwas Kumar Ramesh (45) was sitting on the ’11A ‘seat in the accident. The seat was a window seat near the emergency exit gate. He is a citizen of Britain.
* This accident in Ahmedabad is the first such deadly accident of Boeing’s best -selling 787 aircraft in which the aircraft was completely destroyed.
* AAIB started an investigation on 13 June and formed a multi-departmental team.
* A high-level multi-departmental committee headed by the Union Home Secretary was formed on June 13, aimed at examining the causes behind the aircraft accident and giving extensive suggestions to prevent such incidents in the future.
* ‘Cockpit Voice Records’ (CVR) and ‘Flight Data Recorder’ (FDR) were recovered. One of them met from the accident site on 13 June and the second on 16 June.
* Black box was brought from Ahmedabad to Delhi by Air Force aircraft on 24 June for complete security.
* Front Black Box reached AAIB Lab, Delhi on 24 June.
* The rear black box was brought by a second AAIB team and reached AAIB Lab, Delhi at 5.15 pm on 24 June.
* The process of extracting data from the black box started on 24 June.
* ‘Crash Protection Module’ (CPM) was safely extracted from the front black box on 25 June. The ‘Memory Module’ was successfully accessed and the data present in it was downloaded.
* Expert of ‘International Civil Aviation Organization’ (ICAO), a United Nations organization, has been given a supervisor status in the investigation.
* The day after the accident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered the security check of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet of Air India. Air India also decided to intensively investigate its Boeing 777 aircraft fleet.
* Tata Sons, the original company of Air India, announced a compensation of one crore rupees to the victim families. In addition, Air India is also offering interim compensation of Rs 25 lakh.
* AI has deployed a team of trained psychologists to overcome mental trauma and provide psychological assistance to the affected families.
