Pilot Captain Sumit Sabharwal, who made ‘Made Call’ just before the Air India aircraft crashed in Ahmedabad last week, was cremated in Mumbai on Tuesday. His bereaved father was shocked while giving a final farewell to his son before cremation.

Officials said that the body of Sabharwal was cremated at a electric crematorium in suburban Chakla in the presence of family members, a few hours after being brought from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.
An official said that his father and other family members left the electric crematorium at around 11.15 am after performing the last rites of the 56 -year -old veteran pilot.
Earlier, an official said that Sabharwal’s body was placed in a coffin and brought to Mumbai airport in the morning. He said that after this, members of Sabharwal’s family took the dead body to his residence in Jal Vayu Vihar in Powai.
Many friends and relatives and local residents of Sabharwal (56) gathered outside their residence to pay tribute. Businessman Niranjan Hiranandani and local MLA Dilip Lande were among those who reached his residence to pay tribute to Sabharwal.
Sumit Sabharwal’s father Pushkarraj Sabharwal and other relatives were seen paying tribute to him. Sabharwal (56) lived with his elderly parents in Mumbai.
Air India aircraft (AI-171), going to London, crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12, with 242 passengers and crew members.
The aircraft crashed in a medical college campus, except a passenger in it, everyone died. Other 29 people present in the medical college campus also died.
The aircraft was commanded by Captain Sabharwal and his associate First Officer Clive Kunder. The DGCA had earlier stated in a statement that Sabharwal had an 8,200 -hour flight experience, while Kundar had 1,100 hours of flight experience.
The aircraft flew from Ahmedabad Airport at 1.39 pm from the airstrip at 23 pm. The aircraft’s pilot Captain Sabharwal made a ‘Made Call’, indicating a complete emergency to the Air Traffic Controller in Ahmedabad immediately after the flying flying. A few moments later, the plane crashed.
