The Civil Aviation Ministry has asked airline companies to ensure that there is no increase in air fare on Srinagar route. The ministry said that the airlines will also operate additional flights to Srinagar.
A major tourist place in Pahalgam, South Kashmir was attacked by militants on Tuesday. At least 26 people, including most tourists, were killed and many others were injured in this attack.
Air India and IndiGo will operate a total of four additional flights from Srinagar to the national capital and Mumbai on Wednesday. Airlines have also waived ticket renovation and cancellation fees.
Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu held an immediate meeting with all airline companies and issued strict consultation against the price hike on Srinagar route.
The official statement released on Wednesday said that airlines have been instructed to maintain regular fare levels to ensure that no passenger is burdened during this sensitive time.
