Amid the possible threat of bird flu in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday ordered to increase security in all the zoos, bird sanctuaries, national parks, wetlands and cowsheds in the state.
According to an official statement, the Chief Minister ordered regular cleaning of the zoo complex and emphasized immediate implementation of measures as per the Center and State Guidelines.
Cleanliness measures, if necessary, include mandatory health check-up for all animals and birds, as well as blow-corching.
He said that food should be given only after intensively inspecting the diet of animals, and the duty of employees in the enclosures should be determined on the basis of the level of risk, so that complete safety compliance can be ensured.
Adityanath directed that zoo employees, scientifically known as avian influenza, should be trained to detect and prevent its spread and should be equipped with PPE kit and security gear.
He also called for monitoring all poultry farms in Uttar Pradesh and keeping strict control over the movement of poultry products.
In addition, the Health Department has been directed to study the possible impact of bird flu on humans and submit a report to prevent the spread of infection to the general public.
Adityanath instructed the Central Zoo Authority, National Center for Disease Control Center, Ministry of Health, Fisheries and Dairy Department to maintain continuous coordination with the Department of Fisheries and Dairy (Bareilly) to ensure timely implementation of their recommendations.
