On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the constitution maker and great social reformer Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, there was a series of tributes across the country. On Monday, several prominent leaders and dignitaries gathered and paid regards to Baba Saheb at the ‘Prerna Sthal’ located in the Parliament House complex. On this occasion, leaders of various parties including the President, Prime Minister, Vice President laid a wreath on the statue of Dr. Ambedkar.
Dr. Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in a military cantonment in Mhow (now Dr. Ambedkar Nagar) of Madhya Pradesh. He was an eminent jurist, economist, social reformer and prominent craftsman of the Indian Constitution. He fought against caste discrimination and social inequalities throughout his life. Babasaheb presided over the draft committee as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and later served as the Minister of Law and Justice in the cabinet of the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
President Murmu posted a tribute to Baba Saheb and posted on ‘X’, “On the birthday of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the craftsman of the Indian Constitution, I give heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the countrymen. In his inspirational life, Baba Saheb made his special identity while facing extremely odd circumstances and earned his honor from extraordinary achievements.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while paying tribute to Babasaheb, said, “On behalf of all the countrymen, Bharat Ratna Pujya Babasaheb on his birth anniversary.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to Dr. BR Ambedkar at the inspiration at the Parliament complex on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. Rahul Gandhi wrote in the post on X, “Greetings to Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the creator of the Indian Constitution, salute to his birth anniversary. To strengthen the democracy of the country, for the rights of every Indian, his struggle and contribution to every class’s share will always guide us in the fight to protect the Constitution.” ,
Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid homage to Babasaheb. He said, “Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, who laid the foundation of social revolution on the strength of education, equality and justice, was committed to the rights of lifelongs for the underprivileged. By creating a constitution based on equality, freedom and fraternity, he provided a strong foundation to the great democratic heritage of India. I salute Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar ji on his birth anniversary.
