Amidst the uproar in Rajya Sabha, a wad of notes recovered from Abhishek Manu Singhvi's seat, investigation continues

New Delhi. Another new controversy has come to light amid the continuous uproar between the party and the opposition in Parliament. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar informed the House on Wednesday that security officials have recovered a bundle of notes from Rajya Sabha seat number 222. This seat is allotted to Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the elected MP from Telangana state. The Chairman said, “I would like to inform the members that this bundle was recovered by the security officials during a routine check after the adjournment of the House yesterday. This matter was brought to my notice, and I ensured that it was investigated. “At present the investigation is ongoing.”

Congress MP and advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi said regarding this matter, “I am surprised to hear about this. I’ve never heard of it. I reached inside the House at 12.57 pm yesterday. The House rose at 1 pm. From 1 to 1:30 pm I sat in the canteen with Ayodhya Prasad and had food. I left Parliament at 1:30 pm. So yesterday I stayed in the House for a total of 3 minutes and in the canteen for 30 minutes. I find it strange that politics is done even on such issues. Of course there should be an investigation as to how people can put anything on any seat anywhere. This means that each one of us should have a seat where the seat itself can be locked and the key can be carried by the MP because then everyone can do anything while sitting on the seat and there will be allegations about this. Could. It would be funny if it weren’t so sad and serious. I feel that everyone should cooperate in getting to the bottom of this matter and if there is any shortcoming in the security agencies then it should also be completely exposed…”

J.P. What did Nadda say regarding the matter?

Union Minister J.P. Terming the incident as serious, Nadda said, “This incident hurts the dignity of the House. I have confidence in your decision that a detailed investigation will be conducted into this matter.”

Statement of BJP MP Manoj Tiwari

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, reacting to the matter, said, “A bundle of notes has been found near the seat of Abhishek Manu Singhvi. This is a matter of serious investigation. The Vice President of India has ordered an investigation into this matter. I wonder where bundles of notes are being found from Congress leaders. There should be an impartial investigation into this incident.”

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju’s side

Explaining the background of the incident, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “This bundle was found by the anti-sabotage team during routine checking after the House proceedings were over. The seat number and the member sitting on it were identified and they signed on the same day. I do not understand why there should be any objection to the Chairman taking the name of the member. The Chairman is right in that he mentioned the seat and the member.”

He further said, “When the country is moving towards Digital India, it is not appropriate to bring a bundle of notes to the House. We must ensure that such incidents do not happen again. I agree with the chairman that this incident should be thoroughly investigated.”
