Prior to the Vice Presidential election, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has targeted the India block to nominate the alleged “leftist” supporter retired Supreme Court Judge B Sudarshan Reddy. He said that Reddy’s decision on Salwa Judum was the only reason that leftist extremism, which was on his deathshore, managed to survive for more than two decades.
In an interview, Shah also targeted Rahul Gandhi and demanded that the Congress leader should clarify the decision to choose a candidate by the opposition coalition that “is sympathetic to the leftist ideology” and whose decision “dissolved” the “armed civil monitoring group” “dissolved”, which could not eradicate Naxalites before 2020.
The decision written by Justice Reddy and Justice SS Nijjar in July 2011 dissolved Salwa Judum in Bastar, Chhattisgarh as illegal and unconstitutional. This decision was pronounced when the BJP was in power under the leadership of Chief Minister Raman Singh in Chhattisgarh.
Justice Reddy’s judgment said that Salwa Judum is “abandoned the constitutional responsibilities of the state to provide proper security to the citizens by keeping a sufficient number of trained and properly equipped professional police forces on a permanent basis.”
In his interview to ANI, Shah said after the verdict, “CRPF and security forces were deployed in the schools that were destroyed due to Naxalites. They were removed overnight with the help of the order. Attempts were attacked in many places. More Rahul Gandhi should answer more than Sudarshan Reddy because that is why he (Reddy) has been elected to Naxalite – This is why he got the protection of Naxalite. Is.”
Shah said that Salwa Judum was formed by tribals who wanted education, road and healthcare. The Union Minister said, “It was aimed at protecting them, which was abolished by the Supreme Court.”
The Union Home Minister argued that by dissolving the monitoring group, Reddy has abolished the “self -defense” for the tribals at a time when Naxalism is “gasping.” Shah said, “It is in the record of the Supreme Court. He finished the Salwa Judum. Was it in the record of the Supreme Court;
The ‘India Block’, which is also supported by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has said that he is fighting a “ideological battle” against the ruling NDA, which has nominated CP Radhakrishnan for the Vice Presidential election on 9 September.
Reddy, who served as the Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court before being promoted to the Supreme Court in 2007, retired in July 2011. He filed his nomination on August 21 and will face NDA candidate CP.
