In the latest case, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has instructed the administration in Manipur to remove obstacles in everywhere in the state from March 8. Amit Shah said that strict action should be taken against those who try to stop the movement of people in Manipur. Amit Shah has also directed to forcibly take strict measures to prevent extortion, quick fencing between Manipur and Myanmar and to completely ban the drug trade. Amit Shah gave these instructions during a meeting to review the security situation in Manipur. Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and other officers participated in this meeting. Till now, different groups in Manipur have been obstructed by the people. The central government has issued this important order to end this.

The central government had earlier imposed President’s rule in Manipur on 13 February. After imposing President’s rule, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla gave 7 days time to all the communities of Manipur to deposit all the illegal weapons kept with them. Manipur Governor Ajay Bhalla had clearly stated in his order that if weapons are not deposited in this deadline, then strict action will be taken against the people concerned. After this, many people have deposited weapons kept with them. According to the latest information, the deadline for depositing weapons in Manipur has also been extended by 6 March.
Ethnic conflicts have been going on between Maetai and Cookie communities since May 2023 in Manipur. Nearly 250 people have lost their lives in this struggle. The Manipur High Court had asked the then Biren Singh government of the state to consider giving reservation to the Maetai community. Only after this violence erupted in Manipur. Amit Shah himself went there to prevent violence in Manipur and met Maetai and Cookie leaders. A large number of security forces were also deployed there. Despite this, incidents of violence in Manipur were happening continuously. After which the central government imposed President’s rule to improve the situation.
