Home Minister Amit Shah
Nowadays, discussion about the new immigration bill in the country is in full swing. The bill, brought for the purpose of infiltrating and stopping illegal immigration, is named Immigration and Foreign Bill 2025 (immigration and foreign bill). Home Minister Amit Shah will respond to the discussion on immigration and foreigners bill today. The bill is associated with passports, visas, registration and regulation of foreigners to enter India and go out.
Lack of balance in immigration bill- Congress
Earlier, the Congress today opposed this bill related to immigration in the Lok Sabha and said that there is a lack of balance and there is a strong apprehension of misuse after the law. Party MP Manish Tiwari, while starting a discussion on ‘immigration and foreigners, 2025 Bills’, urged the government to send the bill to the Joint Committee of Parliament to introduce an overall and balanced bill. He said, “Why did we fight for freedom?” Was it just for change of power? No. It was for some values and principles. ”
‘Government is being given a lot of power through bill’
He said that when a bill is introduced, it should be ensured that it does not affect fundamental rights. Tiwari said that it is necessary to control the arrival of foreigners and prevent infiltration, but there is a need to balance the rights of citizens. He said that through this bill, a lot of power is being given to the government and it increases the possibility of misuse of the law. The Congress MP said, “If no one agreed with the ideology of the ruling party, can this law not be misused against him?” He said that it is unfortunate that such things have happened in the past and some people were prevented from coming to India at the time of the peasant movement, but later the same people were honored by calling the same people at the migrant Indian conference.
These old 4 laws will end
Explain that after the law of this bill, 4 old laws related to immigration and foreign nationals will also be abolished. Due to which the country will be pursued from illegal infiltrators. After the enactment of Immigration and Foreign Bill 2025, the government will end 4 laws. These include the Forense Act 1946, Passport Act 1920, Registration of Foreigners Act 1939 and Immigration Act 2000. The government will eliminate these four as soon as new laws are enacted.
What is in the new bill?
In this new bill, it has been proposed that the entry and residences of illegal foreign nationals living illegally will remain under strict rules, giving priority to the security and sovereignty of the country. There is a provision that if the presence of a person is a threat to the security of the country or if he is living on the basis of fake documents in the country or gets illegal citizenship in the country, strict action will be taken against him. In addition, if the arrival of an abroad is likely to affect relations with any other country in India, then it can be prevented from entering the country. The bill proposes that the decision of the Immigration Officer will be considered final. The bill also has that if a person comes to the country without a valid passport or travel document, he can be imprisoned for five years or a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh or punishment of both. If someone uses a fake document or gets a passport from fraud, then he can be imprisoned from 2 years to 7 years. Also, a fine of at least 1 lakh to 10 lakh can be imposed in such cases.
