Chandigarh The Punjab government has increased the National Security Act i.e. NSA for another year on pro -Khalistan Independent MP Amritpal Singh. Amritpal Singh has been elected as his MP from Khadur Sahib seat in Punjab. Amritpal Singh was already imposed on NSA for 2 years. The Punjab government extended it before the NSA period was completed on 23 April. Amritpal Singh was sent to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam after installing NSA. Now with the increase in NSA on Amritpal Singh, the MP will have to remain in jail till April 2026.

Some comrades, including Pappalpreet Singh, close to Amritpal Singh, have been brought to Punjab in the past. All were lodged in the jail in Dibrugarh. All of them have been presented in the courts of Punjab and kept in the state jails. Earlier, Punjab Police also wanted to bring Amritpal Singh to the state, but it is being told that it changed its intention after discussing the central government’s security agencies. Now on the recommendation of the DM of Amritsar, the Punjab government decided to increase the NSA on Amritpal Singh. Amritpal Singh has also been booked under UAPA sections.
Amritpal Singh came under discussion in 2023. When he surrounded the Ajnala police station of Amritsar with all his colleagues. Police of Ajnala police station arrested Pappalpreet Singh, close to Amritpal Singh. Amritpal went to the police station and demonstrated such power that the police had to leave Pappalpreet Singh. This led to the freshness of Amritpal. He was constantly making pro -Khalistan rhetoric. He threatened Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Amritpal Singh and his associates, who were constantly talking in favor of Khalistan, were finally taken action by the Punjab Police. During this time Amritpal and Pappalpreet escaped by changing disguise. Pappalpreet Singh was caught earlier. Whereas, after about a month, Amritpal Singh was arrested by arresting the Punjab Police.
