A suspected terrorist died in a powerful blast on Tuesday morning on Majitha Road bypass in Amritsar, Punjab. Initially it was considered a case of misuse of explosive material, but now the police is investigating the terrorist conspiracy. Deputy Inspector General (Border Range) Satinder Singh said that the deceased Babbar Khalsa was a member of the terrorist organization and he had come to get explosive material. The incident occurred at Decent Avenue near Nowshera village, where the bomb exploded in the hand of the suspect, seriously injured and later died.
Police said the person was trying to keep the bomb, but failed. After being injured, he was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, but could not be saved. The police has intensified the investigation of cases related to the old blasts and the incident is being linked to terrorist activities. There have also been reports of drone activities and explosions in Amritsar in recent times, after which the district administration has issued a high alert.
The incident occurred amidst increasing security concerns in the region after Indo-Pak tension and recent operation vermilion, in which the Indian Army attacked terrorist bases in Pakistan and POK. Police and security agencies are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to detect the identity of the suspect and his intentions.
