Annamalai will leave the post of Tamil Nadu BJP President.
BJP state president K Annamalai has approved the discussion of changing the president of Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu. Talking to the media in Coimbatore, Annamalai said that he is not in the race for selection of the new president and all the leaders will choose the new president by one vote. Annamalai has said that he will continue to do his work like an ordinary worker.
Why is Annamalai leaving the post?
In fact, the reason behind leaving the post of President of Fire Brand leader and former IPS officer Annamalai, who gave a new identity to BJP in Tamil Nadu, is the fumigation of alliance in BJP and AIADMK for assembly elections in 2026. Recently, former CM and AIADMK General Secretary Edappari Palaniswami met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, since then it has started to speculate that AIADMK will once again be part of the NDA alliance in the assembly elections next year.
Why Broken BJP and AIADMK alliance?
The 2021 assembly elections AIADMK and BJP fought together due to which 4 BJP MLAs came after winning. However, before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, AIADMK broke the alliance accusing BJP state president Annamalai of insulting his party leaders and BJP could not win a single seat in this election and AIADMK also became clear. In view of the 2026 elections, the need for a strong alliance is being felt to defeat the UPA led by the ruling DMK in the state.
Palaniswami and Annamalai met Amit Shah
If sources are to be believed, as the first condition of the alliance, AIADMK said that it could not form a coalition while being the president of Annamalai, which the party took the decision after considering. According to sources, after the meeting of Palaniswami and Amit Shah, Annamalai also met Shah. In this meeting, Annamalai was told that the party values his work a lot. In view of the current political situation, some decisions are being taken, they do not need to worry anything. Today, Annamalai also reiterated the same thing, he said that BJP is a national party and the party has to take some decisions to defeat DMK immersed in corruption in Tamil Nadu.
Who can become a new president?
The important thing here is that Palaniswami and Annamalai come from the same caste-gounder caste and the same region of Western Tamil Nadu. This is also a reason for the possible changes of Annamalai. The party feels that handing over the command of the party to the leader of the second caste will benefit it in the elections. The name of Nayanar Nagendran, Dalit leader and Union Minister L. Murugan and Tamilisai Saurarajan coming from Nadar caste is currently under discussion for the post of president.
