Air India on Sunday announced a temporary deduction of less than 5 per cent in its overall narobody network, before which its widebody was announced by 15 per cent temporary cuts in international services.
As a result of this new decision, services on three routes of Air India have been temporarily suspended and the frequency of flights on 19 routes has been reduced. The airline said in a statement that these changes will remain effective till at least 15 July.
The purpose of these deductions is to strengthen Air India’s network-wide operating stability and reduce the inconvenience of passengers at the last minute. Despite these temporary cuttings, Air India stated that it would continue to operate around 600 daily flights with its Narobody aircraft on 120 domestic and short distance international routes.
In the statement, Air India has apologized to the passengers affected by these deductions and said that it is actively contacting the affected passengers to offer a re -location, free resurrection or full money refund in alternative flights as per their choice.
The airline said, “The revised schedule is being made available gradually through our website airindia.com, mobile app and our contact center. We are committed to restore our entire schedule at all times, giving priority to the safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft, as soon as possible.”
In other news, Air India said on Sunday that amid growing tension between Israel and Iran, all its flights are currently escaping from some aerial areas of Persian Gulf.
An Air India spokesperson said in a statement that adjustment in the route may increase the duration of some flights to Europe and North America besides the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.
The Air India spokesperson said, “Amid growing tension in the Gulf region, the Air India Group confirms that our flights are currently not passing through the air areas of Iran, Iraq and Israel.”
As an active remedy, Air India said it will continue to survive progressively from the use of some aerial areas above the Persian Gulf in the coming days, and in its place will choose alternative routes for flights to destinations such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.
The Air India spokesman said in a brief statement, “This adjustment may increase the flight period for these services, as well as for selective flights to Europe and North America. Will keep information about our passengers, employees and aircraft is our first priority. “
