In South Kolkata, an IIM student has accused the classmate of rape. The Kolkata Police has arrested the accused Parmanand Toppownwar on the allegation of the student. The IIM Calcutta student had complained to the police on Friday that the classmate called her and then raped her. According to the police, the IIM Calcutta student was called by the accused as help in the counseling session. When she reached the IIM campus, she refused to enter the name of the student in the Boys Hostel’s visitor register. Still, after trusting, she went inside with the accused Parmanand. According to the student, Parmanand gave her pizza and beverages in the boys hostel room. The student has told the police in the complaint that after drinking the beverages, she started getting dizzy and health started to feel bad. He again wanted to go to the washroom. It is alleged that at the same time Parmanand tried to rape her. Slapped on protesting. The student says that after this Parmanand beat her further and then raped her.
According to the police, the student first filed a case at Thakurpukur police station and then Haridevpur police station. The student has said in the complaint that for some time, he stayed in semi unconsciousness and then fainted completely. On regaining consciousness, he found himself alone in the hostel room. Then he contacted a friend and with his help, he left the hostel of IIM and went to the police station. A few days before this, the incident of rape of a student came to light in South Calcutta Law College. Manjas Mishra and three other people, who were close to college staff and TMC leaders, were arrested in that incident. After this incident, the West Bengal government had directed to tighten security in all educational institutions. After the latest incident, the police is investigating how the girl was allowed to go to the Boys Hostel without entering the registrar register?
