Sriharikota: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is going to launch the EOS-09 satellite from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh on 18 May. The satellite of this series is also known as Risat-1B.

Milestone in space program

This launch will prove to be an important milestone in India’s space program. The satellite series from which India monitored surgical and air strike is the latest version of the EOS-09. The EOS-09 satellite will be installed in the Earth’s orbit at an altitude of 529 km from the PSLV-C61 XL (PSLV-C61 XL) rocket. The satellite weighs 1,710 kg, it is equipped with a C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR).

Able at providing high-schedule image

This radar is capable of providing high-regulation images of the Earth’s surface day and night in day and night and in any season. The launch of this satellite will be at 5.59 am on Sunday morning. The EOS-09 is the seventh satellite of the resat (radar imaging satellite) series, its advanced radar imaging technology enables it to take accurate and high-quality photos even in adverse conditions like clouds, fog or darkness.

Important role in the field of defense

EOS-09 will provide important information for the country’s defense activities. This will aid in military planning and operation, such as boundary monitoring, monitoring suspicious activities and maping of strategic fields. Its high-rugulation imaging capacity will provide important data for the army.

Natural disasters will also be helpful

This satellite will help in monitoring natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, cyclones and landslides and assessing affected areas. Its main objective is to provide timely information for relief and rescue operations during the disaster. EOS-09 will also be used to monitor agriculture, forest, water resources and minerals. This will help analyze land use, crop health and environmental changes.
