After the Pahalgam terror attack, many types of information are spreading in the social media platform. Many of these information are being shared with misleading claims. Some posts in social media are also being written against the country. A permanent committee of Parliament has sought details from the two major ministries who monitor the flow of information, seeking details about the action taken against the social media forums and the influencer, which seems to be working against the National interest after the Pahalgam terror attack.
Influencers working against the interest of the country
Sources said that the Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology headed by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey has taken into its notice that some social media influencers and platforms in the country are working against the interest of the country, which is likely to erupt violence.
Details of action were sought
The committee has sought details of the IT Act 2000 and information technology (intermediate guidelines and digital media code of conduct) Rules, 2021 in a letter to the Ministries of Information and Broadcasting and Electronic and Information Technology.
Asked to give details by 8 May
Sources said that the letter has been sent to the concerned secretaries of both the ministries and they have been asked to give details by May 8. Several social media handles have been banned after allegedly posted material against national security interests.
26 killed in Pahalgam terror attack
