Any attack on people holding constitutional posts is an attack on the Constitution: Arif Mohammad Khan

Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Tuesday said that officers holding constitutional posts should adhere to high standards of decorum and dignity in their conduct as any attack on them is an attack on the Constitution and the democratic system.

Addressing the concluding session of the 85th All India Presiding Officers Conference (AIPOC), the Governor said, “Officers holding constitutional posts must adhere to high standards of decorum and dignity in their conduct…They must understand that they But any attack is an attack on the Constitution and the democratic system. ,

Referring to Bihar, he said that the state is known for its visionary approach and commitment to social justice…these basic principles should be kept in mind.

The Governor said, “Bihar has been the land of the world’s first democracy. The world’s first republic is in Vaishali (Bihar). This is the land of Buddha, Mahavir and Mahatma Gandhi…and it is a well-known fact that Bihar has played an important role in the making of the Constitution. Important personalities of Bihar – Sachchidanand Sinha, Rajendra Prasad, Anugrah Narayan Sinha, Krishna Sinha and others made their invaluable contribution in the making of the Constitution.

He said the Constitution is the supreme legal authority that links the legislature, the executive and other organs of government…Officials must follow the Constitution in letter and spirit.

The Governor said that national interests should be given priority in the discharge of duties and this should be followed by people holding constitutional posts.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also addressed the concluding session.

Other speakers who addressed the concluding session included Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Vijay Kumar Sinha, Chairman of Bihar Legislative Council Awadhesh Narayan Singh etc.
