New Delhi. US President Donald Trump had asked Apple CEO Tim Cook to stop making iPhones in India or any other country. Trump had also threatened that if Apple would instead of its iPhone in India or any other country, he would put 25 percent tariff on it. Now a report by news agency Reuters has come. This report shows that Apple’s management has not bowed before Donald Trump’s threat and most of the iPhones made in India have been sent to sell in America.

According to the Reuters report, between March to May 2025, Foxconn sent $ 3.2 billion from India to sell $ 3.2 billion. 97 percent of these iPhones have been sent to the US. In 2024, Foxconn sent 50 percent of the iPhones made in India to sell in the US. Thus, by May this year, Foxconn sent more iPhones to sell America. According to Reuters, there has been no response from Apple about this. When Trump asked Apple CEO Tim Cook not to make an iPhone in India and other countries, Cook did not react even at that time.
Till now Apple has been mostly made in China. The reason for this was to meet the artisans cheaply there. When Trump continuously imposed tariffs on China, Apple decided to make most of the iPhones in India. Apple has so far invested $ 1.5 billion to make iPhone and other electronic goods in India. Apple makes 20 % iPhone in India. Whereas, 75 percent iPhones are still made in China. Apple also takes goods from South Korea and Taiwan for its iPhone. Apple benefits more by making iPhones in India. If he creates an iPhone in America, its benefit will be less than $ 60 per piece.
