Three military personnel died and six soldiers went missing after a landslide at a military camp in Chhanin, Sikkim.
Officials said the landslide occurred due to heavy rains near Lachen town of Mangan district at seven o’clock on Sunday evening.
The official said in a statement, “The area had a huge landslide after heavy and incessant rains, killing three soldiers, who have been identified as Havildar Lakhwinder Singh, Lance Nayak Munish Thakur and Porter Abhishek Lakhra.”
The officer said in a statement that the bodies of the soldiers have been recovered, while four other soldiers have been rescued with minor injuries.
He said, “Rescuers are working round the clock in challenging circumstances to find out six missing personnel.”
The defense officer said that the army has expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and assured all necessary assistance.
