New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s troubles may increase further. Taking cognizance of the supplementary charge sheet filed by the CBI in the Delhi liquor policy scam case, the Rouse Avenue Court has issued summons to Kejriwal to appear as an accused. Along with this, the court has extended Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody till 11 September. Apart from Kejriwal, the court has also issued summons to other accused Durgesh Pathak, Amit Arora, Vinod Chauhan, Ashish Mathur and P Sarath Reddy. Now the next hearing will be on 11 September.
In the Delhi liquor policy case, both the CBI and ED have tightened the noose around Kejriwal. In the charge sheet filed in the court, both the investigating agencies of CBI and ED have called Delhi CM Kejriwal the main conspirator and kingpin of the liquor policy scam. ED arrested Arvind Kejriwal on 21 March in the money laundering case related to the liquor policy scam. Shortly after this, the CBI arrested Kejriwal from ED custody. Although Kejriwal has got bail from the Supreme Court in the ED arrest case, Kejriwal is still in jail due to the CBI case.
Delhi CM has also challenged the arrest by CBI in the Supreme Court and has sought bail, which is to be heard on 5th September. Earlier, during the hearing on 23rd August, the Supreme Court had given CBI an additional week’s time to file a reply on the petition and fixed 5th September as the next date. Aam Aadmi Party leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, arrested in this case, have already got bail. BRS Legislative Council member K. Kavitha has also recently come out of jail after getting bail.
