Arvind Kejriwal wrote a letter to PM Modi, raised this big demand for the students of Delhi

New Delhi. As soon as the dates of assembly elections in Delhi were announced, political activities have intensified. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding 50% fare discount to students in Delhi Metro. Kejriwal has said in his letter that both the Central Government and Delhi Government have equal share on Delhi Metro, hence this responsibility should also be shared by both the governments. He wrote, “We are working on a plan by the Delhi government to make bus travel completely free for students. In such a situation, if students are given concessions in Metro, it will reduce the financial burden on them.”

Proposal to reduce the financial burden on students

Arvind Kejriwal has written in his letter, “Many school and college students of Delhi are dependent on Metro. The 50% concession in metro fares is very important to make their education convenient and affordable. “This will ease the financial burden on students and their families.”

Equal contribution of central and state government

Kejriwal described this matter as a matter of partnership between the Delhi government and the central government. He wrote, “The Delhi Metro project is run with the cooperation of the Central and State Governments. In such a situation, the expenses incurred for concession in metro fares should be divided equally between the central and state governments. I am confident that you will accept this proposal.”

Plan to make bus travel free soon

According to sources, there is also a possibility that Arvind Kejriwal may announce free travel in buses for students before the assembly elections. This move of Kejriwal is being seen as an election strategy. The opposition is also likely to intensify its rhetoric regarding this issue. In the political circles of Delhi, this letter is being considered as a big bet for the election agenda and the interest of the students. Now it remains to be seen how the central government reacts to this proposal.
