Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma said that after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, two more people have been arrested for ‘supporting Pakistan on the soil of India’. With this, the total number of people arrested in Assam in this case so far has increased to 39.
The Chief Minister said that both have been arrested from Hojai and South Salamara-Mankachar districts.
He wrote on the social media forum ‘X’ on Saturday night, “Action was taken against traitors supporting Pakistan on India’s soil. So far a total of 39 anti -national elements have been sent behind bars.”
Earlier, opposition party AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam was also arrested on charges of treason. He is accused of defending Pakistan and making a statement about Pakistan’s role in the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Chief Minister had said during a panchayat election campaign on Friday that whoever raises slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ will be broken.
He appealed to the people to pray for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army and give them strength to bring Pakistani terrorists hidden in any corner of the world under the purview of justice.
At least 26 people were killed and several others were injured in a terrorist attack on April 22 at Basaron (Pahalgam), a famous tourist destination in South Kashmir.
