Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Sunday that single fathers in the state will now be given Child Care Leave (CCL) to take care of their children.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himant Biswa Sarma wrote on social media, “Sometimes life can take an unexpected turn and a man may have to be the only person to take care of the child. If such a scenario arises for our state government employees, we are ready to help you. From now on, we will give the single fathers to the single fathers to take care of their young children.”
Earlier, the Assam Cabinet had approved amendment to the child care holiday rules, so that the state government’s single male employees, who are widows or divorced and those who have a child’s custody, can be allowed to allow child care holiday (CCL) to the extent of two children.
According to the state government, the CCL rules will be implemented for a maximum period of two years (730 days) for women government employees and single male government employees who have a custody of a disabled child of any age.
This step will help those single fathers who take care of their children alone. Meanwhile, Sarma on Saturday highlighted the progress made by the BJP government in Assam since 2016, especially in Northeast India.
Speaking at the TV 9 Bharatvarsha Power Conference, CM Biswa emphasized that the state has become a better place to live, where indigenous people have gained control of land, politics and government jobs.
CM Biswa said, “The BJP government came to Assam in 2016. Modi ji’s government came in 2014. Today is a better place to live in Assam. You used the word” Khilonjia “, which means Swadeshi.”
Sarma also addressed concerns about immigration, exile and identity, acknowledging the complexity of these issues. He assured that the government has made significant progress in regaining lost places.
