Assam Police chief Gyanendra Pratap Singh appointed Director General of CRPF

Assam Police Chief Gyanendra Pratap Singh has been appointed Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). This information has been given in the order of the Ministry of Personnel.

Singh is a 1991 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre. The January 18 order said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of him as Director General of CRPF till the date of his superannuation on November 30, 2027.

Senior IPS officer Vitul Kumar is the acting chief of the force after the retirement of Anish Dayal Singh on December 31, 2024.

Assam DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh has been appointed the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force, according to an official order. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has approved the appointment of Assam DGP GP Singh as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force. According to the official order, this appointment is effective from the date of his assuming charge and the tenure will be Will remain till November 30, 2027 or until further orders.

The official order dated January 18 said, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri G.P. Singh, IPS (AM:1991) as Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Level-16 of the pay matrix. “has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to appoint him from the date of 30.11.2027 till the date of his superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
