Delhi is set to get its third woman chief minister in the form of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Atishi after Congress’ Sheila Dixit and BJP’s Sushma Swaraj. Earlier, Sheila Dixit was Delhi’s longest-serving chief minister, holding the post for 15 years from 1998 to 2013. Sheila Dixit became Delhi’s chief minister at the age of 60, while Sushma Swaraj took over at the age of 46. Sheila Dixit is an important figure in Delhi’s political history as she was its longest-serving chief minister and the longest-serving woman chief minister in the country.

Sheila Dixit led the Congress to three consecutive electoral victories in Delhi. BJP leader Swaraj became the fifth Chief Minister of Delhi for a brief period in 1998.
