Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma has said that Assam Police caught two Bangladeshi infiltrators and drove them back.
Sharma did not say from which district the two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested.
“We are keeping a close watch on the infiltration,” Sharma said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Thursday. While maintaining strict vigil on the India-Bangladesh border, two illegal Bangladeshis were caught and Assam Police chased them across the border.
Both the intruders have been identified as Sabiha Chaudhary and Jewel Hussain.
“We remain alert round the clock to protect our borders,” the Chief Minister said.
More than 210 Bangladeshi infiltrators have been driven out from Assam since unrest broke out in the neighboring country last year. Apart from this, vigil has been increased on the state border with Bangladesh.
