Chennai: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting has passed a resolution on the issue of delimitation, which expressed concern over the “lack of transparency and clarity” from the Central Government. The JAC unanimously demanded transparency on any delimitation from the Central Government and appealed to postpone the delimitation in parliamentary constituencies on the basis of the 1971 census population for the next 25 years.

The resolution passed by the JAC states that any delimitation made by the Central Government to improve democracy should be done in a transparent manner, which gives a chance to discuss, discuss and contribute to political parties, state governments and other stakes of all states.

Demand for amendment in constitution

The JAC, led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, urged the central government not to “punish the states” which have effectively implemented the population control program. The JAC said that states which have effectively implemented the population control program and as a result, should not be punished. The central government should make the necessary constitutional amendments for this purpose.

Political parties will bring proposals in the assembly

Apart from this, the JAC pledged that political parties of various states representing in the meeting will bring proposals in the assembly on the issue of delimitation issue and will inform the Central Government. The JAC will also make necessary efforts to transmit information about the history and reference and results of the proposed delimitation among the citizens of their respective states through a coordinated public opinion strategy.

Opposition parties will also protest in Parliament

In addition, the JAC pledged that his MP would oppose the delimitation in Parliament. The proposal stated, “The core committee formed by MPs represented by the central government will coordinate parliamentary strategies to combat any attempt to start any delimitation contrary to the principles stated by the Central Government.

The next meeting will be held in Hyderabad

The first meeting of JAC called by Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin was held in Chennai today. The meeting was attended by many political leaders including Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Odisha Congress President Bhakta Charan Das and Biju Janata Dal leader Sanjay Kumar Das Burma. Stalin said that the next meeting on delimitation of constituencies will be held in Hyderabad, Telangana.
