It has been decided to impose a complete ban on the sale of meat and liquor in the 14 km long area of Ram Path in Ayodhya, a religious city of Uttar Pradesh. The Executive Committee of Ayodhya Municipal Corporation on Thursday passed the proposal unanimously. Under this ban, not only meat and alcohol are not banned, advertisements for notes, gutkha, bidi, cigarettes and innerwear will also be banned. This decision has been taken with the aim of maintaining the religious and cultural sanctity of the city.
The Ram Path connects Ayodhya and Faizabad cities. It starts from the banks of river Saryu and extends to five kilometers of Faizabad. Currently, meat and liquor shops are operating in parts of this route. Although there has been a long ban on the sale of meat and liquor in the city of Ayodhya, through this new proposal, the areas of Faizabad will also be included in the entire Ram Path. The deadline and details of the implementation of this ban will soon be declared by the Municipal Corporation.
Announcing the decision, Ayodhya Mayor Girish husband Tripathi said, “The Executive Committee of Ayodhya Municipal Corporation, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and 12 councilors, has passed a proposal to implement this ban to maintain the religious spirit of the city. Ram Path is the path of Shri Ram temple, and it is our duty to keep it holy. It is our duty.
To implement this proposal, the Municipal Corporation has decided to send a letter to the District Magistrate. BJP’s Muslim councilor Sultan Ansari, who was involved in the Executive Committee, also supported the decision. This step is considered important towards establishing Ayodhya as an ideal religious city.
