The wife of the late Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui filed a petition on Friday seeking permission of the court to intervene in the action related to the case.
Former Maharashtra minister Siddiqui (66) was shot dead by three attackers outside his son Zeeshan’s office in Bandra (East) area of Mumbai on the night of 12 October last year.
The intervention petition filed by the shehzene Siddiqui stated that he had ‘incomplete loss’ and for him is ‘very important to keep true and right facts in record’ about the incident.
The intervention petition stated, “This adventurous attack in one of the most prosperous and busiest areas of the city has left a large mark of grief and resentment for the deceased’s family.” It also states that this death is an irreparable loss to the nation.
The petition filed through advocate Tribhuvankumar Karanani states that his death underlines the price of a dedicated leader whose life ended by serving those who had tirelessly efforts for the upliftment.
The petition was filed before the Special MCOCA Judge BD Shelke and the next hearing on it will be held on April 7.
The police have filed a charge sheet against 26 arrested persons, while Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and two others have been made the desired accused.
All the accused have been booked under the Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act (MCOCA) and are currently in judicial custody.
