Former President of Wrestling Association of India and BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh targeted Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia for joining Congress and made several allegations. Now Bajrang Punia has hit back at Brij Bhushan. Punia raised questions and said that those who are happy over not getting medals are calling themselves patriots. In an interview to a news channel, Bajrang said that the medal that Vinesh could not get was not hers but of 140 crore people of the country. On joining Congress, Poonia said that Congress stood with us in difficult days, that is why we have decided to join the party. He also said that both of us had decided that only one of us will contest the elections, that is why Vinesh is contesting the elections, not me. Bajrang said that the legal battle for women wrestlers is not over yet. It is yet to be taken to its conclusion.
