In this accident, 8 passengers traveling in the bus have died while many others have been injured. Police and administration teams reached the spot and started relief work. Local people also helped the police a lot in this. The injured have been admitted to the Civil Hospital and District Hospital for treatment while the bodies of the deceased have been sent to the post-mortem house.

The bus that met with the accident is said to be of a private company which runs on the Bathinda-Shardulgarh local route. However, concrete information as to why the accident occurred is not yet available. According to local people, it was raining when the accident occurred. It is feared that the speed of the bus was high and the bus slipped due to braking due to rain, after which the driver lost control and broke the railing on the bridge and fell into the drain below. Bathinda DC Shaukat Ahmed along with SSP Avneet Kondal visited both Civil Hospital, Talwandi Sabo and District Hospital, Bathinda. During this, he met the people injured in the bus accident and inquired about their well being.
At the same time, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed grief over this accident and posted on social media, sad news was received about a private bus meeting with an accident in Lasada Drain located on Talwandi Sabo Road, Bathinda.
