Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand
This time the monsoon is expected to depart late in Uttarakhand. The people of the state are still not going to get relief from rain. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in many hilly and plain districts of the state. Meteorologist Rohit Thapliyal of Dehradun Meteorological Center reacted on the weather forecast of the state on Tuesday.
Instructions given to Chardham pilgrims
He said that at present we have issued a yellow alert. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Chamoli district on 12-13 September. Moderate rain is expected in other districts Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag. Along with this, instructions have also been given to those doing Chardham Yatra. The department has said to travel with caution. At present, the weather forecast is being monitored. It is possible that in future the yellow alert may be changed to orange and red alert. We are giving regular updates of this.
Appeal to people to be cautious
He said that there is a possibility of moderate rain on Wednesday as well. Monsoon related activities are likely to increase from September 12, especially in Kumaon region, Nainital, US Nagar, Champawat and Bageshwar districts. Heavy rain is likely in Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Pauri districts. The possibility of landslides increases during heavy rains. Travelers and tourists are being instructed to travel with caution. Do not try to cross rivers and streams. Water may rise suddenly. Take time for your journey and do not hurry.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain with lightning and thunder in Dehradun. Apart from this, heavy rain with thunder and lightning is forecast in Almora and Udham Singh Nagar. (With IANS inputs)
