1.5% Discount or up to ₹20,000 off
If you scrap your old vehicle and buy a new car, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Honda, Renault, Nissan, Skoda and Volkswagen will give you a discount of 1.5% or up to ₹ 20,000, whichever is less. Special offer from Mercedes Benz
Mercedes Benz India is specially offering a flat discount of ₹ 25,000. It is important that the details of your scrapped vehicle are updated in the Vahan system.
3% discount for commercial vehicles
Companies like Tata Motors, Volvo Eicher, Ashok Leyland, Force Motors, Isuzu and SML Isuzu will offer up to 3% discount on their commercial vehicles, provided you have a vehicle weighing 3.5 tonnes or more. You will also get a discount of 2.75%
A discount of 2.75% will be given for scrapped commercial cargo vehicles if the vehicle is more than 3.5 tonnes. A discount of 1.25% will be given for vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tonnes.
Need for RVSF and ATS
A network of RVSF (Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities) and ATS (Automated Testing Stations) has been created under this policy. More than 60 RVSFs and more than 75 ATS have been operational across the country.
Statement of Nitin Gadkari
Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has supported this policy. He says that this will help in replacing old and polluting vehicles with new and less polluting vehicles.
Limited Time Offers
Remember, these exemptions are for a limited time. These exemptions will be available for two years for passenger vehicles and one year for commercial vehicles.
So friends, if your old car is gathering dust, then give it for scrap and avail the discount on a new shiny car.
