New Delhi. Governor CV Anand Bose has sent a defamation notice to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Apart from Mamta, the Governor has also sent a notice to TMC’s newly elected MLA Sayantika Banerjee and Rayat Hussain government and asked to apologize. This notice has been sent to him on the remarks made by Mamta Banerjee and her party leaders about the governor. In the notice, it has been said on behalf of the Governor that the claim of defamation of Rs 11-11 crore will be stunned for not apologizing. Perhaps this is the first time that a governor has sent a defamation notice to CM and MLAs.
In fact, in May 2024, assembly by -elections were held in Baranagar and Bhagwan Gola seat assembly seats in West Bengal in which TMC Sayantika Banerjee and Rayat Sarkar won. The Governor did not give the right to oath to the Speaker of the Assembly to administer the oath to both these newly elected MLAs, but he said that the deputy speaker should administer the oath. At the same time, both these MLAs refused to go there and take the oath, calling the Raj Bhavan unsecured for themselves. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had made serious remarks about the Raj Bhavan regarding this entire incident.
However, the Calcutta High Court had asked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee not only to make any kind of comment on the Raj Bhavan or the Governor, despite this, not only Mamata Banerjee and her party leaders also made serious allegations against the Governor. The Governor has now sent a defamation notice regarding this matter. At present, there is no response from Mamata Banerjee or her government yet. According to the Haflenna given in the election, Mamata Banerjee’s assets are Rs 16 lakh while Sayantika Banerjee has 45 lakhs and the total assets of Rayat Hussain government is Rs 3 crore.
