New Delhi. More than 550 Bangladeshi people have been detained by taking major action against illegal foreign migrants living in Gujarat. From 3 am, Ahmedabad Crime Branch, along with teams of SOG, EOW, Zone 6 and Headquarters, carried out a search operation to catch illegal living in Ahmedabad city. 457 people were detained in this campaign. Earlier, 100 Bangladeshis have been caught in a similar campaign in Surat, Gujarat. After questioning these people, the process of their exile will be started.

Joint CP Sharad Singhal of Ahmedabad Crime Branch said that on the instructions of Home Minister Amit Shah, CP and DGP, Crime Branch had lodged 2 FIRs since April 2024, out of which 127 illegal Bangladeshis were caught and 77 of them were excluded. On the basis of the same input, we were informed that a large number of Bangladeshi are living in Chandola area. This morning the police conducted a search operation. We have so far detained 457 people.

All these will be questioned by the Crime Branch. Their ID card will be examined and further process will be carried out on the same basis. These people illegally came to India from Bangladesh and there are many of them who have come here and have made fake identity cards. To take such a large number of Bangladeshi citizens into custody is a huge action. After the Pahalgam attack, Amit Shah had instructed all the Chief Ministers to find out the Pakistanis living in their states so that they could be sent back.
