New Delhi. Maharashtra Police has arrested Baban Vishwanath Shinde, accused of embezzlement of Rs 300 crore, from Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. Police said that the accused was caught in the guise of a sadhu in Vrindavan area of Mathura. Shinde, a resident of Beed district of Maharashtra, was hiding in the guise of a monk near Krishna Balram Temple in Mathura for the last one year. Police arrested him with the help of Vrindavan police.
Accused found roaming in the guise of a monk
The police team from Maharashtra identified Baban Vishwanath Shinde and arrested him. Shinde was roaming near the British temple in the guise of a sadhu. Let us tell you that Krishna Balram Temple is also known by the local people as ‘Temple of the British’. The accused is accused of embezzlement of Rs 300 crore in Maharashtra, after which he absconded.

Revealed in police investigation
According to Maharashtra Police, Shinde was living in Vrindavan in the garb of a monk for the last one year. The police searched local temples, ashrams and hotels and traced the accused with the help of Vrindavan police. Shinde was arrested through joint efforts of the Crime Branch of Maharashtra Police and Vrindavan Police.

What is the matter?
Baban Vishwanath Shinde is accused of embezzling Rs 300 crore in ‘Jijau Maa Saheb Multi State Bank’ of Beed district of Maharashtra. After seizing the money deposited in the bank, Shinde absconded and hid as a monk in Vrindavan, Mathura. According to the police, several cases of embezzlement are also registered against Shinde in Dharashiv district of Maharashtra. The police produced Shinde in the court and obtained transit remand and he has been taken to Maharashtra.
