New Delhi. Elections for Bihar Assembly are to be held this year. Sources are quoted as saying that elections of Bihar Assembly can be held in 2 to 3 phases. The current term of Bihar Legislative Assembly is till 22 November. The Bihar assembly elections are likely to be completed before this. It is being told that the Election Commission will decide the date of Bihar assembly elections keeping in mind Diwali and Chhath Puja. This year Diwali is on 31 October. At the same time, Ahm Chhath Puja in Bihar will run from 5 November to 8 November. That is, the Election Commission can conduct elections from the second week of October to the second week of November.
Bihar Legislative Assembly has 243 seats. In such a situation, the majority figure in the Bihar Legislative Assembly is 122. Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD won 75 seats in the 2020 election for the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Whereas, BJP won 74 seats and JDU of its ally Nitish Kumar won 43 seats. The Congress won 19 seats in the Grand Alliance with RJD. Chirag Paswan’s LJP won 1 and other parties won 31 seats. In this way the NDA formed the government in Bihar.
Nitish Kumar has been in power for the past 20 years as the current CM of Bihar. He has formed a government with BJP 6 times with RJD of BJP and 2 times. Earlier, Nitish Kumar was also a Railway Minister in the NDA government. Nitish Kumar has a sour-sweet relationship with BJP and RJD. Even before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Nitish Kumar suddenly left the BJP and joined the RJD. Nitish Kumar, who played an important role in forming the opposition’s Indie alliance, again came with the BJP before the election. He has been constantly saying in his public meetings that now will never go with RJD. The BJP has already announced that it will contest the Bihar assembly elections 2025 under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.
