Before the Bihar assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the incentive amount of three thousand rupees per month to ASHA workers in the state instead of one thousand rupees. He also informed about double the incentive amount of Rs 300 per delivery for ‘Mamta’ health workers to Rs 600.
Kumar wrote on the social media forum ‘X’, “Since the formation of the government in November 2005, we have worked on a large scale to improve health services. Asha and Mamta workers have played an important role in improving health services in rural areas.
He said that ASHA workers will now be provided an incentive amount of Rs 3,000 “instead of Rs 1,000”. Also, Mamta workers will get an incentive of Rs 600 instead of Rs 300 per delivery.
The Chief Minister said, “This will boost their morale and will be stronger in rural areas.”
The Chief Minister said that this decision has been taken in view of the important role of ‘Asha’ and ‘Mamta’ health workers in strengthening health services in rural areas.
