US MP Brad Sherman met the Pakistani delegation, who visited the US visit to Pakistan People’s Party President and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and called for a decisive action against the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Posting on the social media platform ‘X’, Congressman Sherman said, “I emphasized the importance of action against terrorism, especially Jaish-e-Mohammed to the Pakistani delegation, who killed Daniel Pearl, a resident of my constituency in 2002.”
He also said that Pakistan should make every effort to end this “disgusting group” and fight terrorism in the region.
In addition, Sherman also emphasized the need for the safety of religious minorities in Pakistan. He said, “Christians, Hindu and Ahmadi Muslims living in Pakistan should be allowed to follow their religion without any violence, oppression, discrimination or fear of uneven justice system and participate in a democratic system.”
During this meeting, Sherman also raised the issue of Dr. Shakeel Afridi’s release, who helped American intelligence agencies to detect Osama bin Laden. He said, “Dr. Afridi’s release will be an important step towards bringing closure for 9/11 victims.”
The US visit of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took place at a time when a multi -party delegation of Indian MPs, led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, is present in Washington. The delegation is informing US authorities about Operation Sindoor and India’s response to terrorism after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April.
Bilawal Bhutto also met UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres and Ambassadors of the UN Security Council during his visit. However, US lawmakers urged the Pakistani delegation to focus on the issue of terrorism.
The incident is considered important in the context of international discussions on terrorism and regional security issues between India and Pakistan.
