Lucknow. Along with the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections, by-elections are also to be held on 10 assembly seats of UP. Out of these 10 seats, Sisamau seat has become vacant due to the punishment given to Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki. The MLAs who were elected on the remaining 9 seats in 2022, have won the Lok Sabha elections held this year. Even before the announcement of by-elections for these 10 assembly seats of UP, the politics of the state has heated up. The by-elections of these 10 seats of UP are a question of respect for the ruling BJP as well as the Samajwadi Party.
In UP, by-elections are to be held in Karhal of Mainpuri district, Sisamau of Kanpur, Milkipur of Ayodhya, Katehari of Ambedkarnagar district, Kundarki of Moradabad, Khair of Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Phulpur of Prayagraj, Majhwan of Mirzapur and Meerapur seat of Muzaffarnagar. Samajwadi Party had won 5 of these seats in the 2022 UP Assembly elections. At the same time, RLD, which was then with Samajwadi Party, won 1 seat, BJP 3 and Nishad Party won 1 seat. According to sources, BJP has decided to field candidates on 9 seats in the by-elections and give 1 seat to RLD. Sources say that BJP is not going to give seat to the other ally Nishad Party. At the same time, Samajwadi Party has announced the names of candidates for 6 seats. Now whether it gives the remaining 4 seats to ally Congress or not, it remains to be known. If there is no alliance between Congress and Samajwadi Party, then a multi-cornered contest can be seen on all the 10 assembly seats. The reason for this is also that MP Chandrashekhar’s Azad Samaj Party is also preparing to field candidates on some seats. BSP can also take part in these by-elections.
BJP and Samajwadi Party are going to use their full strength to win the by-elections of 10 assembly seats in UP. The reason for this is that in the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party had performed tremendously in UP and won 37 seats. Whereas, before this only 5 MPs of Samajwadi Party were elected. Whereas, BJP had won only 33 seats in UP in the Lok Sabha elections. Whereas, in 2019, BJP had captured 62 Lok Sabha seats of UP. Samajwadi Party also won the Lok Sabha seat of Faizabad-Ayodhya. Losing this seat despite the construction of Ram temple was definitely a blow to BJP. Now Samajwadi Party will try to prove that the people in UP are now against BJP by winning most of the seats in the by-elections. At the same time, BJP intends to shock Samajwadi Party by getting more seats.
