How did the accident happen?
According to preliminary information, the boat going from Mumbai’s Gateway of India to Elephanta Island suddenly started sinking in the water. After this, the passengers on the boat are being rescued by nearby boats. This incident happened around 4 pm. At present, 21 people have been rescued. At the same time, news of death of one person is also coming to the fore.
Rescue operation continues
According to the information revealed, the name of the boat going to Elephanta was Neelkamal. It has drowned in Uran, Karanja. Preliminary information has come to light that there are 56 passengers on board this boat. Relief and rescue operations are underway at the accident site with the help of Navy, JNPT, Coast Guard and Yellowgate Police Station 3 and local fishing boats. Ambulances are also present at the spot.
Rescue efforts have been started at the accident site by the Navy in collaboration with the Coast Guard and Marine Police. 11 boats of Navy, 03 boats of Marine Police and 01 boat of Coast Guard are in the area. Apart from this, 04 helicopters are also engaged in rescue work.
