New Delhi. The petition filed by comedian Kunal Kamra in the Bombay High Court was heard today demanding that the FIR lodged against him be canceled. The court reserved the verdict on this, although the police have directed the police not to arrest them until the petition comes. During one of his shows, Kunal Kamra was engulfed in controversies after calling Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde a ‘traitor’ and an FIR was lodged against him in the same case. The Bombay High Court had earlier sought a reply from the Maharashtra government on the petition and stayed Kamra’s arrest till 17 April.

Kunal Kamra told the court that he was constantly receiving threats to kill his life, despite the Mumbai Police is pressurizing him to appear for questioning. He also said that even after 75 years of the Constitution, the police is unaware of the fundamental rights. Earlier, the Madras High Court also protected Kunal Kamra from arrest till 17 April. In the Kunal Kamra case, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis had said that insults will not be tolerated in the name of comedy.

On the other hand, Shiv Sena activists vandalized the Habitat Studios in Mumbai where Kunal Kamra’s show was shot. Many Shiv Sena leaders have also threatened to face Kunal Kamra. On this whole controversy, Kunal Kamra also wrote a post that he is not among those who are silent fear of threatening. He also said that he can only apologize at the behest of the court.
