New Delhi. The Bombay High Court has provided comedian Kunal Kamra from arrest in the disputed comment on Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. The court, however, has given permission to the Mumbai Police to continue the investigation against Kamra. Along with this, the court has also said that if the Mumbai Police has to interrogate Kunal Kamra, it will be only in Chennai. Justice Sarang Kotwal of Bombay High Court and Justice S.K. The bench of M. Modak ordered the petition of Kunal Kamra seeking the cancellation of the FIR lodged against him.

The High Court in its order also said that if the Mumbai Police files a charge sheet in the case when Kamra’s current petition is pending in the High Court, the lower court will not take action against Kamra. The court earlier provided interim protection from arrest to Kamra on 16 April, which has now been made permanent. Please tell that Shiv Sena MLA Muraji Patel lodged an FIR against Kunal Kamra. Kunal Kamra called Eknath Shinde a ‘traitor’ during her comedy show. The controversy began after this comment by Kunal Kamra.

Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena UBT supported Kunal Kamra’s statement. UBT leader Sanjay Raut had said that the traitor would be called a traitor. At the same time, Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis had said in clear terms that insult to anyone will not be tolerated in the name of comedy.
