The Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police have thwarted a major terror conspiracy in Amritsar district of Punjab on the India-Pakistan border. Based on reliable information received from BSF’s intelligence branch, a joint search operation was carried out near Bharopal village on Wednesday evening. In this, a large amount of weapons and ammunition were recovered. This campaign has achieved significant success in stopping the potential major terrorist attacks.
The recovered killers include two hand grenades, three pistols, six magazines and 50 live cartridges. A BSF official said that this operation is a major victory against conspiracies promoting terrorist activities from across the border. The recovered weapons have been handed over to the Punjab Police for further investigation. This action recently becomes even more important after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people died.
A senior BSF official said, “Accelerated and coordinated action with the Punjab Police has helped prevent a major terrorist attack. It shows our vigilance and strength of intelligence on the border.” This is the second major recovery in the last one week. Earlier, BSF and Punjab Police in Sahowal village of Amritsar recovered five hand grenades, 4.5 kg RDX, four pistols, 220 cartridges, two remote controls and a battery charger.
After the Pahalgam attack, India has tightened security measures. The Attari border has been closed for all movement, and security at tourist places in Punjab has been increased. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The coordination of BSF and Punjab Police on the border is capable of thwarting any threat.” Meanwhile, there are also reports of frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the Line of Control. This success is not only going to break the morale of the terrorists, but also shows India’s commitment to border security and national security.
