New Delhi. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced several schemes related to the health sector in her budget speech. He informed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government will set up a day-care cancer center in all district hospitals in the next three years. In the current year 2025-26, 200 centers of the day-care cancer center will be operational. With the opening of the cancer center, people suffering from this disease across India will ensure quick diagnosis, accessible care and proper management in fighting cancer.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced the removal of custom duty from many life saving medicines, giving relief to cancer patients. With this decision of the government, cancer medicines will now be available at a lower price than before. Finance Minister said, the government will include 36 life saving drugs in the list of fully exempted drugs from the original customs. At the same time, six life -saving drugs will be added to a 5 percent concessional customs list. With this, the Finance Minister made another big announcement related to the health sector. Giving a big gift to medical students, who is dreaming of becoming a doctor, the Finance Minister has announced to increase medical seats.

The next five years the government will increase 75000 medical seats. Under this, 10 thousand seats will be added to medical colleges and hospitals across the country by next year. The Finance Minister said, “Our government has added about 1.1 lakh undergraduate and postgraduate medical education seats in 10 years, which is a 130 percent increase.” In the next five years, 10,000 additional seats will be added to medical colleges and hospitals next year in the direction of the target of adding 75000 seats. In this way, the Finance Minister has given great relief keeping in mind the health sector of the country.
