There is no concrete plan in many districts of the country regarding flood water. Governments wake up when it starts raining, well, now Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivkumar has made a plan to ensure that there is no flood -like situation in the capital Bangalore, and has also ordered a bright Bengaluru metropolitan municipality to implement it.
Government has made this plan
The plan is that under the Disaster Management Act, the buildings that disrupting the natural flow of rainwater and floods in Bengaluru will now be demolished. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar has instructed the municipal bodies to do so. Shivkumar, who is also holding the charge of the development minister of Bangalore, visited the areas of the city where a situation -like situation had occurred during the recent rains. He also inspected the drains near the Manyata Tech Park, due to which a recent flood -like situation was created.
Some have taken a stay order from the court- Shivkumar
Deputy CM Shivkumar said, “The Chief Minister and I have already visited the rain -affected areas, this is a very important junction because the problem started from here and now it has spread to other areas as well.” He further said that some persons obstructing the water stream have taken a stay order from the court and even some municipal officials are not cooperating. Therefore, I have ordered the officials to remove buildings that have been obstructed under the Disaster Management Act.
Government’s intention is not to harm anyone
He further clarified that the government does not intend to damage the property of any particular person or do unjust work. The issue here is that rain water holders should flow smoothly. That is why I visited the area myself and inspected. We need to find a permanent solution for this. He said, “If there is any mistake for someone’s technical reasons, we will compensate him. We need a permanent solution to this issue. Everyone agrees and we will continue our work.” Further, the Deputy CM said that the government has given full right to removing encroachment to M Ma Maheshwar Rao, Chief Commissioner of Brihat Bangalore Metropolitan Municipality.
