New Delhi. In Bhimtal, Uttarakhand, a roadways bus slipped off the road and fell into a ditch. In this accident, 4 passengers on the bus have died while more than 20 people have been injured. The dead include a child, two women and a man. The injured have been admitted to Haldwani hospital for treatment. Besides, a team of doctors from AIIMS Rishikesh is also reaching Haldwani. If necessary, seriously injured will be sent to higher centre. This bus was going from Pithoragarh to Haldwani, the accident occurred about 500 meters ahead of Bhimtal. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over this accident.

Nainital ASP (Traffic and Crime) Jagdish Chander said that the bus fell into a ditch about 150 meters away after the driver lost control. As soon as the information was received, the police and administration team reached the spot. With the help of local people, police and rescue team have rescued all the people. After the accident, the bus fell at a place which was very difficult to reach. After this, the police and administration team tied a rope from top to bottom and with the help of the same rope, people were brought up from the ditch.

CM Dhami wrote on social media post, the news of death of 4 people in an unfortunate bus accident near Bhimtal is extremely heart-wrenching. I pray to God to grant peace to the souls of the departed and strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense loss. The seriously injured people are undergoing treatment at Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital, Haldwani, and a team of doctors from AIIMS Rishikesh has also been sent to Haldwani. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of all the injured.
