New Delhi. The Modi government has taken a major step to treat the injured in the road accident. The government has issued a notification of the cashless treatment scheme, under this, there will be free treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh for the injured people in the accident. For this, the families of the injured will not have to spend any money. The scheme has come into force from May 5, 2025 across the country. Many times it happens that the injured in a road accident cannot immediately get treatment only because of who will pay the hospital bill? But now after this scheme, the injured will be provided immediate treatment as the government will pay up to Rs 1.5 lakh to the hospitals.
The responsibility of implementing this scheme has been entrusted to the National Health Authority. From the day of accident to a maximum of 7 days, the injured will get the benefit of this facility. After that the family of the injured will have to be filled. Although the government has nominated some hospitals for this facility, the treatment can be availed. If an injured person is admitted to a hospital who is not listed in this scheme by the government, then the patient will be treated till the condition of the patient. Guidelines have also been issued by the government regarding this.
In states and union territories, a nodal agency will be formed to monitor the scheme which will take care that there is no fraud and the victims are benefiting or not. The Central Government has also constituted a Steering Committee under the chairmanship of Road Secretary. Apart from insurance and non-government agencies, this committee includes representatives of National Highway Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs, Finance, Health and Selected States.
