New Delhi. Although there is a cold atmosphere in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla due to snowfall, CBI has increased the heat in the government department by raiding the ED office. Chandigarh CBI team raided the ED office in Shimla while investigating an old case related to bribery. Although the ED’s Assistant Director level officer, who was on the CBI’s radar, was not found in this raid, it is being said that the CBI has recovered Rs 1.14 crore. CBI has already arrested the ED officer’s brother in the bribery case.
There is also discussion that in this case, ED has transferred some other officers along with the accused officer. CBI has seized some files and other important documents from the office of ED Assistant Director in the raid. No officer is ready to say anything in this matter. But according to the information that has come to light, an Assistant Commissioner level officer posted in the ED office of Shimla had asked for bribe through a middleman to save the college owners accused in the SC student scholarship scam case in the colleges of Himachal Pradesh. About Rs 55 lakh has already been given as bribe to the ED officer.
The involvement of the ED officer’s brother has also come to light in this case, who has been arrested by the CBI from Chandigarh. At the same time, CBI has recovered about Rs. 1.25 crore cash in raids from different locations of ED officers. The ED officer is currently absconding and the CBI has intensified the search for him. Information has also been received that the CBI raid in the ED office lasted for more than 36 hours. This is probably the first such case in which a senior ED officer has been raided by the CBI.
