New Delhi. The Calcutta High Court has ordered the deployment of central forces in Murshidabad, West Bengal. In view of the tension in view of the frequent violence in Murshidabad, BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari had filed a petition in the High Court and requested to order the Central Force to be deployed. However, the West Bengal government opposed the petition. On behalf of the government, the lawyer argued that there was no need to deploy central forces in Murshidabad, although he later said that there is no problem with it.
In the High Court, a special bench of Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Raja Basu Chaudhary heard this petition. The bench said that when such serious cases are reported, the court cannot close the eyes and if needed, the central forces will be ordered to be deployed at other places as well. With this, the Kolkata High Court issued an order to send the Central Force in Murshidabad. On the other hand, West Bengal DGP Rajiv Kumar has left for Murshidabad from Kolkata. Kalyan Banerjee appeared as a lawyer on behalf of the state government in this matter. He said that the demand for deployment of central forces in Murshidabad is completely political.
At the same time, the petitioner’s counsel Soumya Mazumdar argued that Murshidabad is also extremely sensitive due to being a border area. For a few days, there are frequent incidents of violence and the state government has failed to control violent incidents, so it is the responsibility of the central government to protect the citizens. In view of this situation, central forces should be deployed there. Please tell that today in Murshidabad, protesters have killed a father and son in protest against the Waqf law.
